Creating a Work-Life Balance
Creating a work-life balance is one of the reasons I became a coach. I have worked in corporate America for the past 10 years, and while some HR departments will say they want you to have a work-life balance, quotas and work pile up, and something must give. Sometimes, we walk away from our jobs, sometimes, we give less time to our families, and most times, we cut from self-care. The only person who loses is you. There is no other you. And as that popular meme on LinkedIn states, “20 years from now, the only people who will remember you worked late are your kids.”
Coaches Need Coaching
During one of my sessions, I tried to fit house repairs and meal-prepping into an already hectic schedule. In all honesty, I didn’t want to do anything extra. My coach guided me through creating a schedule that satisfied my need for weekend relaxation while adding additional chores to the tasks. I was comfortable with the outcome, which, in turn, will help my work-life balance.
How Can Coaching Help You with Work-Life Balance?
· Set Clear Boundaries – Create a clear distinction between work and personal time by setting work hours and unplugging afterward.
· Plan & Prioritize - Use a planner or digital tool to organize tasks and focus on what truly matters. Avoid multitasking and take regular breaks to stay productive without feeling overwhelmed.
· Make Time for What Matters – Balance isn’t just about work; it is about life, too. Spend quality time with loved ones, pursue hobbies, and engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
· Take Care of Yourself – Read a book, get a massage, practice mindfulness, exercise, go for a walk, and eat healthy or whatever regimen makes you feel good about yourself.
